Sean D. Reyes
In 2013, at the age of 42, the Honorable Sean Reyes was appointed by Governor Gary Herbert as Utah’s 21st Attorney General. Reyes took over an office racked with scandal and inefficiency in the midst of some of the most significant constitutional issues in state history. Within a year, he reorganized and re-energized the office internally and recaptured the trust of the State with striking leadership, innovative programs and historic wins against drug dealers, human traffickers, child predators, and white-collar criminals. After winning the election in 2014 by one of the largest margins nationwide, Reyes was selected in 2015 by the Republican National Committee as one of its four national rising stars.
After graduating summa cum laude from Brigham Young University in 1994, Reyes earned his law degree with honors from U.C. Berkeley in 1997. He practiced for nearly fourteen years at Parsons Behle & Latimer, the largest law firm in the State, where he became one of the first minority lawyers to make partner at a major Utah firm. While there, Reyes represented clients on some of the largest and most high profile litigation cases in the history of the State. He argued or briefed cases before state and federal courts throughout the country, including the Utah Supreme Court and Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has been honored nationally and locally with a long list of awards for his legal skills, leadership and unparalleled commitment to public service and has founded and served multiple non-profit organizations.
The son of a Spanish-Filipino immigrant father, who fled the Marcos regime and a Japanese-Hawaiian mother, AG Reyes is Utah’s first minority elected statewide. AG Reyes and his wife, Saysha, are the proud parents of 6 children. He is a former collegiate volleyball player and mixed martial arts fighter who enjoys speaking at Comic Cons, playing basketball, coaching his kids, dancing with Saysha, watching Sports Center, cooking, shooting guns and rapping on Bloomberg News.

Morgan Scalley
Morgan Scalley was appointed Utah's defensive coordinator in January of 2016 after eight seasons coaching the safeties. Scalley has previous coordinator experience as the special teams' coordinator last season and the recruiting coordinator from 2009-15. While he has relinquished those duties with his move to defensive coordinator, he will continue to coach the safeties.
Scalley is in his 11th year overall on the staff, having apprenticed as an administrative assistant in 2006 and a graduate assistant in 2007 before becoming the safeties coach in 2008.
His promotion to defensive coordinator when John Pease retired was expected given his increased role the past few seasons in Utah's overall defensive scheming.
Scalley is also a proven coaching commodity at his former position, where he was a second-team All-America safety and Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Year for Utah’s undefeated 2004 Fiesta Bowl team. He has coached two first-team all-conference safeties—Robert Johnson (Mountain West) in 2009 and Marcus Williams (Pac-12) in 2015. He also has two Freshman All-Americans—Brian Blechen (2010) and Eric Rowe (2011) to his credit. Safety Tevin Carter was named the 2015 Las Vegas Bowl MVP.
Johnson was drafted in the fifth round by the Tennessee Titans, and Blechen (Carolina) and Rowe (Philadelphia) are on current NFL rosters—Rowe as a second-round draft pick.
Scalley also excelled as the special teams' coordinator and recruiting coordinator. Punter Tom Hackett was a 2015 unanimous consensus All-American and won the Ray Guy Award as the country's top punter (an honor he also won in 2014). Utah finished first in the nation in net punting in 2015.
On a recruiting front, Rivals.com rated Utah's 2012 recruiting class as the country's 25th best while Scout.com gave the Utes a No. 32 ranking. In 2011, Rivals called Scalley one of the top recruiters in the Pac-12 and a "recruiting coordinator on the rise."
Scalley was Rivals' non-BCS recruiter of the year in 2010 and one of the top 25 recruiters in the nation overall. Rivals ranked Utah's 2010 recruiting class as the best by a school from a non-automatic qualifying conference and 32nd overall.
Playing Career
Scalley was the 2004 MWC co-Defensive Player of the Year, a unanimous first-team all-conference selection and a second-team Associated Press and SI.com All-American. A four-year letterman from 2001-04, he was a second-team all-MWC defensive back in 2003 and an honorable mention all-MWC punt returner in 2001 and 2002.
As a senior, he captained Utah to 12-0 record, a Fiesta Bowl win over Pittsburgh and a No. 4 national ranking in a historic season in which Utah became the first non-BCS team to play in a BCS bowl game.
Scalley was a two-time first-team Academic All-American (2003-04), the 2004 Anson Mount Scholar Athlete of the Year and the 2004 MWC Scholar Athlete of the Year. He was awarded two post-graduate scholarships, including one from the NCAA.
He was presented with the inaugural Pat Tillman award during the 2005 East-West Shrine Game, recognizing him for his character, intelligence, sportsmanship and service.
After graduating Magna Cum Laude from the U. with a 3.96 GPA, Scalley earned a master's degree in business.
